Perfect ambient lighting for the education campus, Education campus Sonnwendviertel

More than 400 pantograph shutters from Griesser at the new school campus for children up to age 14, located near the new main train station in Vienna, assure perfect light ambiance and highlight the contemporary facade design. The kindergarten, elementary and junior high school opened its doors on September 1, 2014.

Thanks to a new spatial design which can no longer be gaged by standard classrooms, an abundance of new, modern spaces are available for everyone at the school. Lounges, a large cafeteria, a multi-use gym, and a spacious outdoor area concept are just as much a part of it as is the clever synergy effect between the individual building types.

The winning project has created new standards in school buildings, with open spaces, gathering areas and surroundings where learning can be fun. Learning and free time are ideally combined with each other. The infrastructure and playground offerings can be jointly used by all of the school children, young and older.

Expanded metal presents a very interesting variation for modern facade design. The broad range of expanded metal and their measurements make individual planning and finishing to the desired expanded metal format possible. In addition, the contemporary expanded metal look offers shade but still allows light to enter a building.

Here, the aluminum expanded metal type Leoben - mesh 16x8 mm - was used with a 1mm thickness in combination with the frame profile H 40x31 mm.

After coating the frame and infill, the finished elements were assembled and the complete shutter armatures, including the track material, were pre-mounted. That way the tracks, armature and panels did not need to be further assembled and mounted and the on-site mounting took place easily and quickly.
